So… Republicans can’t make any laws concerning women’s reproductive organs?
If only.
I admit I have no idea where this “Obama wants revenge” meme is coming from. Who does he want revenge on? How does he plan to take it? But I can say this just smacks of desperation on the part of conservatives. “Scary scary black man wants revenge!” Ignoring the not-so-subtle racism there, it’s clearly a Hail Mary pass, a flailing attempt to find something to stick on Obama at the last minute in the hopes of… what? This late in the game does the Romney camp and its boosters like McCoy or Branco expect to win any undecided voters with this? You can’t be introducing a new theme at the last second like this.
But getting three cartoons along the same theme, including two mentions (watch this video to the end) of the “look in his eyes” idea, makes me wonder how much (if any) coordination there is among Romney’s camp/the gOP itself and pundits (or in this case, cartoonists). Did McCoy, Branco, and Allie all decide, independently of each other, to do the same cartoon with the same theme? It’s certainly possible; editorial cartoonists aren’t known for being the most original or deep. Or is it just that the three cartoonists here all follow the same media, they hear about the same stories and hear the same buzzwords, and this is an echo chamber result. “Obama wants revenge” becomes the new talking point among the right and lo and behold, the conservative cartoonists take that ball and run with it.
And why, in Branco’s cartoon, does Romney look pissed off?
Look out! The scary black man is angry and he’s going to take his revenge out on that blonde white woman!
Yeah, I’m calling racism on this shit.
I love how horrified and indignant they get when you point out that a racist attitude is racist.
I wish they would drop all the dog-whistling and occasional dog-foghorning and just go ahead and use the n-word.
Look out! The scary black man is angry and he’s going to take his revenge out on that blonde white woman!
Yeah, I’m calling racism on this shit.
If you want to understand the difference between liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans, the three presidential debates this past month tell all you need to know. When Obama lost the first debate the Left acknowledged this. When Romney lost the next two conservatives simply denied reality, focusing on the most pathetic of missteps from Obama (or Biden; remember how horrible it was that he laughed during his debate with Ryan?) and trying to blow them up into campaign-killing gaffes. Or they whined about the moderators being unfair (though, on the subject of McCoy’s cartoon, everyone agrees Romney won the first debate; cognitive dissonance, anyone?)
One side confronts reality as it is, the other tries furiously to redefine reality.
Modern technology like Skype allows the president to keep up with daily briefings without being present in the room.
A good cartoon.
I wonder why Allie didn’t write ‘Economy’ on the ball.
Stay with me here: Romney has been taken to task this week for his response to the embassy attacks in Libya and Egypt. He tried to politicize something that very much should not be politicized, and he was rightly struck down for it.
I think Allie is siding with Romney. I think he wanted to label the ball ‘Embassy attacks’ or something similar. He is angered that Romney is being attacked for what he views as valid comments, that this is all Obama’s fault. But he also realizes that he’s in the minority. Allie knows there is no chance of painting Obama in the wrong and/or Romney in the right such that others will agree with him.
So instead he left the ball blank, giving himself a sense of plausible deniability. “Oh no, I’m not talking about the embassy attacks. This is about the economy. Obama’s fumbled it, Romney is booing him, and the Mainstream Media is attacking him for it.”
So why didn’t he just write ‘economy’ on the ball and make the deniability complete?
Even ignoring the message, this is a really badly done cartoon.
The referees labeled “MSM” are supposed to be throwing trash at Romney. I couldn’t tell that until I saw it pointed out. The referees’ arms don’t at all match with the arcs the pieces of trash are supposed to be making, and the lines in that area are too jumbled to tell what’s going on. The actions might have been clearer without the “Booo!”, but as it is, the area is simply too complicated to convey the intended meaning.
The one on the right looks like he’s pointing angrily at *Obama*. Since this referee is the in the foreground, that makes him the most prominent of the referees in the panel. This colours the perception of the other referees, making it look like they’re mad at Obama, not Romney.
So even beyond his vile political beliefs, this cartoonist isn’t even competent when it comes to getting his idea across. That’s what cartooning, any kind of cartooning, is supposed to be about: telling a story and/or revealing character.
I can’t believe he gets paid for this shit.
It’s not trash. They’re yellow flags, penalties for Romney.

Meanwhile, Romney’s religion teaches that black people are laden with the Curse of Ham.
Which ticket do you think is going to carry black voters?
